  Indico Event Management System

Objectives

  • To test the requirements for LEARN for handling workshop and conferences.


Introduction

Indico is a software, by CERN which can be used for event management including conferences, meetings or workshops etc. And ability to change limited characteristics on the software according to client’s requirements.


Method

Indico was  installed in a ubuntu installed virtual-box for testing the requirements for LEARN for handling workshops, workshop materials and conferences.

As shown in Figure 5.01 above, the indico software was edited with injecting LEARN logo for handling events. And as in the Figure 5.02, the window for general setting is shown.

As shown in the figure 5.03, A workshop was initialised with the details in indico platform for testing.

Privacy on the events can be handled as shown in Figure 5.04. Also using Indico, emails can be sent for the people who are willing to participating on events and also reminders for them automatically for a scheduled time.


Problems Encountered


Plugins are not provided by CERN for fellowships and no templates are provided for customising, and plugins have to be written for the special requirements of the clients.

Project(on going) - IPv6 Fragmentation

An IP Datagram travels over different networks, each of which may have different MTU (Maximum Transmit Unit ) , which is the largest IP datagram that can be carried by a network. MTU - - maximum size of an unit which can be transmitted in a network and it depends on the network and media and how they be allowed to transmitted. also encapsulation....etc. It happens when the MTU values of hosts and routers are different from each other;         When we have two different type of network/media connected with router which have different MTU in such case router broke down packet to appropriate size regarding network/media type payload exceed the Maximum Transmission Unit in the interface. so the payload has to be chopped and put them into IP fragmented packets. they are:     -reassembled at destination     -each fragment is independent datagram        - could be routed in a different direction        - could be delivered out of order        - can be used to bypass IPS
